Anatomy of Social Innovation

What is Social innovation; is it a means or an end? What indicators show us that we're progressing and where do we look for lessons? This blog charts my exploration of these questions. Hello, my name is Maura, let's dive in.

Last night I started reading Mutual Aid by Prince and Communist Pyotr Alexeyevich Kropotkin and I stayed up way to late! The first chapters from Russian zoologist, activist, philosopher, economist, writer, scientist, evolutionary theorist, geographer and one of the world’s foremost anarcho-communists – pause for a air – is informing my constantly expanding understanding of system dependencies, exciting stuff. Hard to believe this book was published over 100 years ago, its themes are fresh and relevant to today, in his own way, Kropotkin references cosmopolitan trends such as biomimicry and systems thinking.  More updates as they come.
